"Africans want to be paid a living wage. Africans want to perform work which they are capable of ... Africans want to be allowed to live where they obtain work and not be endorsed out of an area because they were not born there.

Africans want to be allowed to own land in places where they work...Africans want to be part of the general population and not confined to living in their own ghettos. African men want to have their wives and children with them where they work" - Nelson Mandela - Rivonia Trial

The story follows the trial through the eyes of ten cadres of Umkhonto We Sizwe who faced charges of sabotage and these include Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki, Dennis Goldberg, Ahmed Kathrada, Elias Motsoaledi, Andrew Mhlangeni, Lionel Bernstein, Raymond Mhlaba and James Kantor. The story is told by a journalist who is our eyes and ears in and outside the courtroom.
