Statement of ANC National Working Committee, 5 September 2011

The National Working Committee of the African National Congress, met today in its regular session to deal with organizational matters. One of the issues that were discussed was the recent violent protest outside Luthuli House. The NWC came to a conclusion that the protest was uncalled for and that it was calculated to undermine the internal organizational processes to uphold disciplined conduct of its members.

The meting agreed that the protest was used for ill-disciplined purposes and it flies against good and reputable conduct inside the organization. The NWC condemned the protest and its organizers for exposing the organization negatively. The meeting concluded that such behavior should not be tolerated in the organization and should be condemned unconditionally.

The meeting also condemned the burning of the t-shirt bearing the President’s face and the flag of the ANC. This was viewed as totally un-ANC and a breach of everything that the ANC stands for. The NWC further called for action to be taken against those who are implicated in acts of violence and criminality.
