Don't be misled by the PROPAGANDA OF THE KAJEE-PATHER GROUP

A reply to the Congress Election Committee

Election No. 2

Leaflet No. 2 says: -

"The Anti-Segregationists are led by Communists, who are Communists first and Indians second".

We say: -

There are Communists in the Anti-Segregation Council, as there are Communists in the Congress Committee, as also in the Indian National Congress and Muslim League of India. There is nothing contradictory in an Indian being a Communist. To say that the Communists are communists first and Indians second is to indulge in cheap sentimental trash, aimed at diverting the attention of the people.

The Policy of the Anti-Segregation Council is not dictated by any group or section. It is arrived at in a democratic manner.

Moreover, the Communists have not sold the right of the Indian people as the Ka j ee-Pather group has done. THE COMMUNISTS ARE FIGHTERS IN THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM FOR ALL PEOPLE.

The Communist Bogey was used by Hitler and his gangsters to suppress the Jews, the workers and the people of Germany and elsewhere and to bolster up the racial superiority of German race.

The Communist Bogey is also being used in South Africa by Fascists - the Malans, the Louws, the Pirows and the Van Rensburgs - to suppress the Indian and other Non-European people.

Now, the Ka j ee-Pather group is using the Communist bogey to divert the attention of the people from the great crime, which they have committed against the community in concluding the PRETORIA AGREEMENT.

Leaflet No. 2 says: -

"The Anti-Segregationists say.Indians must unite with the Non-European Unity Movement.Indians must demand the full franchise for Africans, Coloureds and Indians or nothing".

We say: -

Congress must make common cause with the other sections of the Non-European peoples on common economic and political issues, and therefore we ask for the implementation by the Natal and S.A. Indian Congress of the Unity Resolution passed by the S.A.I.C. in 1943 (proposed by A. Ismail and seconded by A.I. Ka j ee).

We want: -

Full franchise, i.e., the right of every Indian, man and woman over the age of 21, to elect and be elected to Parliament, Provincial and Municipal Councils.

Ka j ee-Pather group wants: -

Restoration of the franchise, i.e., the right to vote for only those Indians who en j oy poperty qualifications; and no vote for women.

We want: -

Franchise for all Indians.

Ka j ee-Pather group wants: -

Franchise for only a few.

IS PRETORIA AGREEMENT DEAD?

WHY HAVE THE ELECTIONS BEEN POSTPONED?

Ka j ee-Pather group says: -

Why make a fuss about the Pretoria Agreement? General Smuts says its dead.

We say: -

Do not be hoodwinked. Doors are left wide open for another dishonourable agreement. The Smuts Government is very much concerned about Indians challenging protest. General Smuts, on the eve of his departure for London and San Fransisco, would like to repeal the Pegging Act if he could secure the segregation of our people with our consent and cooperation. The Ka j ee-Pather group is on the way to conclude yet another agreement as dishonourable as the Pretoria Agreement.

NO WONDER THE KAJEE-PATHER GROUP WANTS TO REMAIN IN OFFICE AT ALL COSTS!

NO WONDER THE KAJEE-PATHER GROUP MANAGED TO HAVE THE ELECTIONS POSTPONED INDEFINITELY!

DO NOT BE MISLED BY THEIR ARGUMENTS THAT THEY WANT A DEMOCRATIC METHOD OF ELECTIONS. IT IS AN EYE-WASH!
