"AII-African Convention Forthcoming Conference,"South African Worker, 13 November 1937

From the 13th to the 16th of December this year there will take place
at Bloemfontein another national conference of the All-African Convention.
This usual gathering of the oppressed and exploited Africans will
meet at a very critical period, when the imperialist offensive against
the Natives as a whole has reached tremendous heights. When, on top
of the terrifying amount of legislation under which they are groaning,
the self-interested government politicians, under the deceitful slogan
of "White South Africa," are crying for more suppression
and oppression of the Africans.

Under such circumstances the Bloemfontein conference of the All-African
Convention must come out with a definite policy of practical, positive
work, and not concern itself with pious resolutions.

Every right-minded African to-day wants to know whether these conferences
are convened merely for the purpose of listening to the "African
intelligent oratory" and the passing of resolutions, or whether
the time has come that such conferences should definitely decide
the methods of struggle for national emancipation of the South
Africans from slavery.

Unity, in theory, has long been achieved, but no work has been done
to mobilise and rally the masses around the All-African Convention.
Without the revival of defunct organisations, such unity does not
count. It is only when there are organisations affiliated to the
All-African Convention that such unity will have a meaning. See to
it that the forthcoming conference is representative of the workers
and peasants.
