At least 12 people were killed when two Kenyan jets bombed the southern Somali town of Jilib. This was an attempt by east African nation to rid Somalia of the Islamic al Shabaab rebels.     Kenya moved its troops into Somalia in mid-October in pursuit of Somali insurgents it blamed for a series of kidnappings on Kenyan soil and frequent assaults on its security forces in the border provinces in the North East of the country. Kenya became the latest east African country to be dragged into Somalia’s intractable anarchy.
