Text: Lesotho born Ephraim Mojalefa (Kid) Ngatane, painter, musician, teacher and boxer, died of tuberculosis at the Barangwanath Hospital, Soweto. Ngatane used water colours and oil for his paintings and held a yearly solo exhibition throughout his career, except for 1970. As an enthusiastic musician he played penny whistle with Rankutsi, popular at the time. He later started his own band, in which he was the lead singer. Ngatane was buried at Doornkop farm cemetery in Soweto, southwest of Johannesburg.
