Former State President Marais Viljoen is buried it the Presidential Acre in Bloemfontein, after a service in the Pretoria East Dutch Reformed Church attended by former colleagues and Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka. The remains is flown to Bloemfontein from Waterkloof Air Force Base. A state funeral and private burial is held respectively in Pretoria, Gauteng, and Bloemfontein, Free State, for the late former state president Marais Viljoen. In agreement to the family's wishes, the state funeral is limited, but Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka attends the funeral service at the Dutch Reformed Church Pretoria East and a military detachment is present at the Waterkloof and the Bloemspruit Air Force bases.
