Zambian golfer Madalitso Muthiya began playing golf at the age of six. After he broke a bedroom window while playing with his father’s clubs, his father decided to buy him his own. When Muthiya was fifteen, he caught the attention of Zambian president Frederick Chiluba. Chiluba arranged for the young golfer to play a junior tournament in the US. In 2005 Muthiya turned professional and a year later he made history when he became the first black African to qualify to play in the U.S. Open.
