The Pretoria Show is opened for all races

The Pretoria show is an annual event that began as an agricultural show and grew to include arts, entertainment, education and exhibitions over the years. The show began in 1939 and was only open to whites only. However, on 22 August 1977 the show was officially opened to all races. The show is the largest springtime show in South Africa. Like the town and street name changes throughout the country, the show has also gone through a name change; it was briefly changed to Tshwane Show before settling on The Spring Show. The Spring Show is an all-round family fun event taking place every year between late August and early September at the Tshwane Events Center (previously Pretoria Show Grounds).
