The eldest person in South Africa and allegedly eldest in the world, Granny Moloko Temo, of Mogodi Village between Dendron and Bochum in Limpopo Province, celebrated her 130 th birthday with her community and well wishers. The celebration was attended by prominent people from the Limpopo government department and municipalities of Malamulele and Bolubedu. The Member of Executive Council, (MEC) for Health and Welfare, Seaparo Sekwati, led the government officials from his department. Sekwati presented Temo with gifts, which included a warm shawl, blankets, a nightgown and slippers. Former National Federated Chamber of Commerce (NAFCOC) president, Tom Mboya, was also in attendance to congratulate Granny Temo. Mr Solly Mohale, the sponsor of the celebration and director of the Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) in Limpopo, was at hand to celebrate with the old lady. The MEC, Sekwati, announced that application for the granny to be entered into the Guinness Book of Records as the world eldest person had been made.
