SA footballer, Steven Pienaar is born in Johannesburg

Steven Pienaar is a South African footballer who has made a name for himself internationally. Pienaar began his professional career with Ajax Cape Town in 1999. In 2009 he joined the Dutch mother team Ajax and quickly became one of its best players. He later moved to other European teams like German club Borussia Dortmund and English club Tottenham Hotspur. In 2002 Pienaar made his international debut with Bafana Bafana. He later became captain until he retired from the international arena in 2012. He currently plays for Sunderland FC.
