SA government fails to integrate KaNgwane into Swaziland

Date: 25 November, 1982

The SA government conceded another legal defeat in its attempts to transfer the KaNgwane 'homeland' to Swaziland. Dr. Piet Koornhof, Minister of Development and Cooperation, announced the withdrawal of a proclamation dissolving the Legislative Assembly of KaNgwane issued in June 1981. As a result of the settlement, Enos Mabuza, Chief Executive Councillor of KaNgwane, withdrew his application to the Pretoria Supreme Court for return of the administration of KaNgwane to the tribal authorities. The government was ordered to pay his legal costs.
