Adele Lorenzo, South African TV producer, was reported killed in a plane crash in Nigeria the previous night while on assignment for Africa Report. The twin-engine Boeing 737 left Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos at 7 p.m. Saturday night 22 October as Flight 210 en route to Abuja -- a trip that should have taken about 50 minutes. It carried six crew members and 111 passengers from different parts of the world, including British and US diplomats. The Nigerian Civil Aviation investigation authorities told President Obasanjo that the plane was presumed missing after it failed to give signal when it was at 13000 feet, before flying through an electrical storm. President Olusagan Obasanjo of Nigeria ordered that all flags fly at half mast, marking three days of mourning in respect to those killed in the crash.
