1 March 1960
The South African Federation of Consumer Associations (SAFCA) issued a statement distancing itself from a body called the South African Consumers Association (SACA), which, according to reports, was supporting the boycott of South African goods. The Vice-President of SAFCA, Mrs. Susan Bold said in Pretoria that the consumers' association condemned the boycott. Bold said; "We are an organisation which helps the consumer to buy the best goods on the best markets and we have nothing to do with politics or boycotts. Our movement was established four years ago and we are today one of ten organisations in various parts of the Union representing those who have no association to join."
