South African artist Michael Zondi is born

On 10 March 1926, Michael Zondi, a South African artist, was born in Msinga in Greytown, Natal. He was trained in woodwork at the Swedish Lutheran Mission Trade School, and obtained certificates in building construction and design. He worked at the Appelbosch Mission Hospital in Natal, where he executed the design, construction and decoration for the hospital chapel. After this, he worked for the Department of Information until 1972.
