South African cricketers' first international tour in 27 years

On this momentous occasion, South Africans were welcomed in India with garlands and standing ovations, and played to capacity crowds. South African cricket, with Bacher's able administrative team, went from strength to strength. By 1999, Bacher's achievements for South African cricket were highly respected throughout the world.
