UN approves embargo against Ethiopia and Eritrea

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) unanimously approved an arms embargo against Ethiopia and Eritrea following the latest flare-up in their two-year border war. The embargo could be immediately terminated if a peaceful definitive settlement of the conflict has been concluded. Otherwise, the council would review compliance with the embargo after twelve months to decide whether it should be extended.
