UN Special Committee releases its report

The United Nations Special Committee on Apartheid, which was set up by the General Assembly under resolution 1761 (XVll), released its second interim report. The committee was entrusted with the responsibilities to monitor and promote a comprehensive programme of action against apartheid in South Africa. It pressed for effective international sanctions against South Africa, particularly with reference to the supply of arms, ammunition and petroleum.
