Thaba Tshwane

Date: 19 May, 1998

A new dawn befell Pretoria as the name of Voortrekkerhoogte is officially changed to Thaba Tshwane (Tshwane Heights). Thaba Tshwane is the military headquarters of the South African Defence Force (SADF) (later renamed South African National Defence Force after the 1994 elections). This was in light with government's policy of transformation and in accordance of the South Africa demographic representations.
