He was born at Isipingo. He lives in Eshowe. He studied at the Chelsea School of Art, London. He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions in SA.

He was a founder member and Chairperson of the Zululand Society of Arts.

He was largely responsible for the establishment of the TEACH Museum in Empangeni in the 1980s and he served on the Advisory Board of that museum.

He was a primer mover in the building the new VM in 2001 in Eshowe. He is represented in public and private collections in SA.
