Fawcett was part of the Ladies’ Committee that was sent over from Britain during the Anglo Boer War in order to inspect the conditions in the concentration camps and then to give advice to the British government. Emily Hobhouse was very important in getting this group put together, but was not part of the committee that came to South Africa.
