# 1956 Women Marchers is an initiative of the  Albertina and Walter Sisulu Foundation and South African History Online to gather the names and stories of the 20.000 women who marched under the banner of the Federation of South African Women to the Union Building on August 9th 1956 to protest the carrying of passes by African Women.

Lets us name the women and tell their stories so that we can honour these women and the role they played in their communities , as mothers, wives and activists.
Help  us by sending us the name and biographical details our members of your family, your neighbours who participated in the march
