Boris Becker (17) of West Germany beat Kevin Curren (27) of South Africa at Wimbledon to become the youngest ever tennis champion. Becker beat Curren in the finals 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. After his defeat, Kevin Curren said he thought the game would see an increase in the number of successful young players, and predicted they would have more intense, but shorter, careers. South African tennis player Kevin Curren was born on 2 March 1958 in Durban. Kevin Curren has been an exponent of the grass court games.
