The first branch of the Suid-Afrikaanse Vrouefederasie (SAVF), a women's welfare and cultural organisation which comes into being as a result of the dire circumstances after Anglo-Boer War 2, is founded in Pretoria, Transvaal, with Mrs Solomon and Annie Botha, wife of Gen. Louis Botha, attending.
