In a move aimed at strengthening the campaign for the release of five Cubans - who include trade unionists - incarcerated in Miami, United States, in 1998, African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Gwede Mantashe is today (21 May 2010) holding a meeting with former South African political prisoners who have just returned from Cuba.

The Cuban Five, as they are known, were arrested by the FBI while trying to stop right-wing groups in Miami from carrying out terrorist attacks against Cuban people in the US. Journalists are welcome to a photo opportunity during the meeting currently taking place at the ANC headquarters - Chief Albert Luthuli House. There will be an interview with comrade Mantashe after the gathering.
