An Apology | First edition of the Bloemfontein Bantu And Coloured People`s Directory

Owing to the changes that have been effected in the different local public institutions during the compilation of this Directory and which changes escaped my notice, I beg leave to tender an apology for their omission and also insertion of those parties and individuals who left Bloemfontein at the time of publication.

May I also, for the information of the public, state that fresh appointments to other centres were accepted by some of those who have already been included in this volume during its publication, but hope on the other hand that this would not materially affect their present appointments or cause any undue criticism, as the public will be aware that the compilation of the 1-ook just took place in the middle of the year.

A salient feature of the publication is that it is rather inclined to be primitive in its construction and this must be attributed to the fact that the work is original and has been so arranged as to satisfy the future requirements oi those of our backward Bantu people who have no idea of what a Directory is and is intended to be; I think that future publications will be arranged on the same lines as those published by the Europeans.

If any one finding necessary omissions in this Directory will advise the publisher, this service will be much appreciated and suggestions for additions and improvements will  also be welcomed.
