50 years ago, it was decreed that District Six should be home to whites only. All infrastructural development and investment into the area would be for the benefit of the white community who would become the new residents after others who had resided there for generations, were kicked out and their homes and landmarks razed to the ground. Many other communities suffered similar fates.
