Bonnie Mayvee Ntshalintshali was born in Winterton, Natal. She fell into art when she apprenticed as a studio assistant for ceramics artist Fèe Halsted-Berning. Her talent in ceramics and painting soon shined through and Halsted-Berning encouraged her to pursue her own path. In many of her works, Ntshalintshali drew inspiration from her early years at mission school. She won numerous awards throughout her career, among them the Corobrik National Ceramic Award in 1988 and the Standard Bank Young Artist Award in 1990.Her work is represented in collections locally and overseas. Ntshalintshali died of an AIDS related illness in 1999.She was buried at the farm where she was born.
