Morice, South Africa’s first qualified veterinarian, was born in Barberton in 1904. She completed the first two years of pre-veterinary study at the University of Witwatersrand, and the next three years at the Transvaal University College’s Onderstepoot facility. She received he Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1927 and went into private practice.
