It was declared a National Monument under old NMC legislation on 18 February 1977.Over the past two Centuries, The Vineyard has proudly evolved into one of the most Environmentally-friendly, progressive Hotels in Cape Town. Taking the lead from the original Owner, they have developed and adapted into the progressive Hotel, that you see before you today. 

The seven Acre Property, is Home to a diverse range of Fauna and Flora. The original House was built in February 1800. You are able to see the Remnants of the first English Style House to be Built in the Area, gracefully merging with the Contemporary interior styling and luxury features expected from a modern Hotel. 
While time and progress took its toll on the vines at The Vineyard, it was Replanted in 2008 to mark the 350th Anniversary of winemaking in the Cape. Enquire about the guided Garden tour.
As an award-winning leader in responsible Hoteling, they have a number of Sustainability Initiatives. On the Property there are 80 Solar Panels. The Hotel is also supplied with Green Energy from the Darling Wind Farm. They also harvest greywater and recycle 98% of their waste-water. They are also a certified member of Fair Trade Tourism involved in a number of organisations such the Event Greening Forum, of which they are founding members, they are are also a member of BirdLife SA and Eco Atlas. They support the Table Mountain National Park in its efforts to clear Alien Vegetation.They endeavour to make use of Fair Trade, Sustainable and Ethically produced goods when procuring their wines, coffee, meats, seafood, produce and stationary. 
 
Kids of the Cape Initiative-
Extending our Hospitality past the Boundaries of the Hotel is, a committee of hotel employees from the Group’s three hotels, this Non-Profit Organisation oversees about 15 upliftment projects that provide child/youth refuge and care, education, skills-training, feeding as well as care for the disabled. Guests are encouraged to contribute a donation through Accommodation and Restaurant Bills, which is matched by the Hotel.
