The Nelson Mandela timeline tracks the history of the first democratically elected president of South Africa through his childhood in rural Transkei, the beginings of his political career, his bannings, subsequent arrest and trial, followed by 27 years imprisonment.

His story continues with his release, his forgiveness of his captors, negotiation, his election victory and his willingness to step down after one term. This was followed by him promoting international goodwill and peace. Unfortunatley all men are mortal and after a long and fulfilling life he eventually passed into the good night at the age of 95.
