  2. Exploration and exploitation from the fourteenth century onwards:

    • early mapping: representations of Africa;

    • science and technology: investigating contributions from different parts of the world;

    • examples of exploration from Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Africa, and its impact on indigenous people.

  3. The history of medicine:

    • important medical discoveries;

    • indigenous medicine and traditional healing.

  4. Democracy in South Africa:

    • What is democracy?

    • How is South Africa governed?
