Bafana Bafana beats Madagascar
Date: 4 September, 1994
Two years after readmission to international football, the South African national soccer team, nicknamed Bafana Bafana, took a short trip to Madagascar to engage their Madagascan counterparts in the African Cup of Nations Qualifying Group 5 match. The game was played at the Mahamsina Municipal stadium in Antananarivo. The game ended in 1-0 with South Africa securing a victory. The only goal of the match was scored by South African trustful striker Philemon "Chippa" Masinga in the 21st minute. Bafana Bafana was under the tutelage of South Africa ever-successful coach Clive "The Dog" Barker.
