The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Mr Roberto Robaina, visited South Africa at the invitation of his South African counterpart Alfred Nzo. They met in Cape Town to deliberate extensively on international issues, the situation in their respective regions and, in particular, bilateral relations. The two Ministers touched on the subject of human rights, both in international and domestic context. Robaina announced that his visit to South Africa would pave the way for an extended state visit by Cuban President Fidel Castro.
