European Community observers arrive in SA

This Day in History: 29 October 1992
The first group of European Community (EC) observers, including some police officers, lawyers and economists, arrived in South Africa to assist in preventing violence, defusing tension, and promoting peace between fighting supporters of two political parties, the African National Congress (ANC) and Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP). In addition, six police experts joined the newly instituted Judge Richard Goldstone's Commission.
