Date: 29 September, 1858
Cape Governor Sir George Grey arranges peace between Basotho King Moshoeshoe and the Free State Voortrekkers at Aliwal North. The peace brought to an end the First Basotho War or Senekal War with the Free State voortrekkers. However, the peace was short-lived and the second Basotho war or Seqiti war followed in 1865.
