28 April 1994
Following numerous complaints about poor arrangements at some polling stations in South Africa's first democratic election, President F.W. De Klerk approved a recommendation by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to extend polling by one day in areas plagued by voting problems. These included KwaZulu, Venda, Gazankulu, Lebowa, Transkei and Ciskei. This meant that voting in those affected areas continued up to 29 April. References: South African History Online
