Pik Botha is appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs

Date: 1 April, 1977
Pik Botha, South African ambassador in the United States of America (USA), returns to South Africa and is appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Botha entered into the Department of Foreign Affairs immediately after completing his law studies. He also served as South Africa's permanent representative at the United Nations (UN).
