30 August 1888
The Rosebud was a British three-masted wooden schooner, weighing 341 tons. It was built in 1876 by Carnegie Peterhead, and was commanded by Captain J. Collie. On 30 August 1888, the Rosebud was wrecked on Diaz Beach at Mossel Bay, during a south east gale. The ship was en route from Calcutta to London with a general cargo, and no lives were lost during the wreckage. References: Anon.
