18 December 1995
On 18 December 1995, a Lockheed L-188C Electra plane owned by Zaire’s (now Democratic Republic of Congo) Trans Service Airlift Company, crashed shortly after takeoff from Jamba Airport in Angola. A total of 141 passengers and crew members perished. It is not clear what caused the crash. It was, however,  speculated that movement in the cargo may have been the cause of the crash. It was also reported that the plane was overloaded by forty people. A crew member and two passengers survived the crash.
