Dr. Evangelos Mantzaris was born in Lemnos, Greece in 1953. After graduating from Panteios University in Anthens he came to South Africa where he obtained an M. Social Science and PH.D from the sociology Department at the University of Cape Town. He is the Senior Research Officer at the Social Policy Programme, University of Durban-Westville. He has published widely in English, Greek and Yiddish on ethnic and class relations, industrial sociology, family and old age.
