Cape Maclear

Cape Maclear, named after the royal astronomer Sir Thomas Maclear, is a small bluff at the southern most point of the Cape Peninsula. It is likely that Bartholomew Diaz erected his Padrão de São Filipe marker here on 6 June 1488. Also, Stone Age tools have been discovered 90 metres above sea level at Cape Maclear.
