Welcome to the Richard Turner website On 8 January 1978 Richard Turner was shot through a window of his suburban Durban home and died. He was a passionate lecturer pioneering the teaching of radical political philosophy and an advisor to the National Union of South African Students (NUSAS). Turner encouraged political activism by whites in the aftermath of the 1969 departure of Blacks from NUSAS. The South African History Online, an NGO organization, together with the Turner family have compiled a special website (the Richard Turner Website) in commemoration of the life of this remarkable visionary, academic, political activist and philosopher. January 8, 2008 marks the 30th anniversary of his death. Biography
