Identifying my Ubuntu Bathong: My Reflection African Colour

This body of work seek room to speak for or about African (Black African identity) identity in the Townships. We felt it necessary to turn to our townships neighbours and attempt to reflect what is special and unique about our common heritage. These small portraits speak of what we as photographers have come value so greatly our ‘Ubuntu Bathong’.

This body of work started in 2007; it has been an ongoing project to date. At current we still work together to produce more work of such great value to us, work that aims to promote African awareness through individual Black African identities. It is more about our environment as it has an influence on us as we grow, in turn our unique characters and Ubuntu or identities are built through the conditions and circumstances we are from. It is all about capturing the essence of our environment and African people in townships
