Nelson Mandela says general strike will go ahead

African National Congress (ANC) President Nelson Mandela said that next week's general strike will go ahead. He says the aim of the mass protest was not an insurrection, but the peaceful removal of President F W De Klerk from power; the immediate transfer of political power to the people; installation of an interim government and free and fair elections to a constituent assembly.
