On 29 June 2013 President Barack Obama, accompanied by his family, made his first visit to South Africa since he was elected President of the United States of America. He and his family visited Cape Town, where they spent time at Robben Island, as well as Johannesburg where they met members of Mandela's family privately. During his visit he also attended a press conference with President Jacob Zuma and hosted a town hall meeting with young African leaders.
