Sheyi Emmanuel Adebayor is a Togolese footballer. He was born to parents of Yoruba descent in the city of Lomé. After a talent scout spotted him playing, he was taken to Metz, France, in 1999. He later moved to Monaco. In 2006 he signed up with Arsenal. He has since played for big European teams like Manchester City, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspurs. In 2006, Adebayor represented Togo in his first world cup in Germany. The same year, he took part The Africa Cup of Nations. In 2010, Adebayor briefly retired from international football when he and his team’s bus were attacked on their way to The Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Angola. He returned the following year after he was assured of safety. He is currently Togo’s highest goal scorer.
