Positioned beautifully on the mountainside as you go along to Worcestor, is a health resort! This region in the Worcester district is noted for its medicinal springs, fruit and grapes. The name is probably of Hottentot origin and means 'bitter honey valley'. Governor Van Plettenbere noted it as Gaudiene in 1778, 13 km from Worcester. There is a post office.
