Klapperkop offers visitors panoramic views of Pretoria in all directions. Not only is it fast becoming a popular jogging, cycling and mountain biking destination, but with the introduction of game, you’re able to do a quick game drive for free, right here in the heart of Pretoria! Right at the top of the hill you will find Fort Klapperkop. Completed in January 1898, it’s one of Pretoria’s four forts build to protect the then capital of the South African Republic (ZAR). The fort has been restored and is now a museum. A small entrance fee is charged. It was declared a National Monument under old NMC legislation on 24 June 1938.
