The five properties involved are part of a larger complex of Georgian terrace Houses, The original portions of this House reputedly served as an out-building of the Von Breda Homestead, on the Farm Oranjezicht, and as such probably dates from the 1730s. It was rebuilt during the early 19th Century by D Krynauw, who acquired the property in 1816. It was declared a National Monument under old NMC legislation on 27 December 1985.
